We first opened in 1927 as a home for miners recovering from illnesses or accidents in the pits. From the 1950s we then offered respite for miners and ex-miners for periods of convalescence and recuperation. We have now developed into a medium sized charity delivering short holiday breaks to ex miners and their families throughout the open season which is from May to August each year.

During the closed season we are now opening up our facilities to other charities, voluntary sector, specialised events, private events/functions and groups from any organisation/companies which can benefit from our facilities. We shall orginise your booking and tailor your stay or event to your groups needs/requirements.
